The summer is just flying by. We spent vacation with family and friends in Duck, North Carolina. This was our first time visiting the Outer Banks and we loved it!
The picture to the right is a view of the bay where I spent a morning with my netbook writing while enjoying a cup a chai from one of the local bookstores.
I purchased a "nook" before I went on vacation and had the pleasure of reading several books while on the beach and during the long drive to and from North Carolina. I loved that I could take so many books with me and only carry one small device. I was even able to download additional books while on vacation. That doesn't mean that I didn't visit the two bookstores in the town of Duck and I did purchase a poetry book that caught my eye.
I have so many writing plans for the summer, I'm afraid I might not get to all of them. I'm working a new nonfiction picture book about the first balloon flight in America, revisions on a manuscript that I've been working on for more years than I care to admit, and a new idea I have for an early chapter book series.
So whether you're jumping into a good book, a swimming pool or waves at the beach, have a splash this summer!
